Since the day I was old enough to have boobs, I’ve had boobs. There is no denying this fact and my modesty can only go so far when I have giant melons staring everyone in the face 24/7.
But really – large breasts are not something I would wish upon anyone. Large breasts are painful, expensive, uncomfortable and not worth it. If you have a smaller chest, take it as a blessing you haven’t had constant back pain for years because of carrying two things the size of a small child on your chest.
Now that I’m done with that – the purpose of this post is for those women that are not yet plus size but not really normal sizes either. For years when I was younger I was able to fit into a solid size 8 and could confidently know if a size Large would fit me.
However life happens, ankles get sprained, medicines intervene, and binge eating happens. Therefore, I have found myself at an impasse. I can still shop at {some} normal retailers under a size 14. However – many of the places actually stop at a size 12 as they deem this the largest size apparently a woman should be. So I find my way to their ‘Plus Size’ section or a store dedicated to Plus Size women and what do you know – they begin their sizing at a size 14/16 or simply 16. So I’ve found myself with clothing that is either too tight or too large – neither of which is what I need for my figure.
I’ve recently begun a health journey to regulate my weight after sudden weight gain from a medicine regime. Therefore, I’ve found myself now more on the size 14 side of things and hopefully smaller. However, it hurts my heart that so many women out in the world have to deal with the same issue I have dealt with. What constitutes a size 14 suddenly as plus size?
I say these as well for the girls and women who are not proportioned perfectly to their supposed size. Why does a store give me the height of a model when showcasing a bra instead of her size? Am I meant to be a certain height to fit into a certain bra? I’ve had to stop shopping at stores like Victoria Secret and boutiques because of the huge disparity in sizing.
Another example of this is my sister. She is incredibly slender and has always been short like myself. However – she has inherited the breast gene as well. She would wear a much smaller size but can sometimes struggle to find items that fit her waist and breast size correctly.
Because of the odd size I am at, my go to brands recently have been Old Navy, Lane Bryant, Charlotte Russe, and Jane for bras, clothes, shoes and more.
My favorites are ever changing, but my style seems to stick to the classier/preppier side of things. Here are some of my recent favorites:
