Let me start off and say, I have not used false lashes at all to really have much to say about them except for the fact that I do not like them. I have worn false lashes maybe once or twice for prom and then they were ripped off my eyeballs at the end of the night because honestly they are the WORST. The problem with fake lashes is that I would want to use them more than once (which seems unsanitary to me) and putting the glue near my eye is just not my favorite thing to do at 8 AM (or ever). However, I know plenty of women can stick whatever they want near their eye and bat their lashes to the world like no big deal. I have incredibly sensitive eyes. I.e. just spent 45 minutes this morning trying to figure out what was in my eye to find a little baby hair on my eyelash that was wreaking havoc to my cornea. Dramatic – yet oh so painful.
Therefore, I am actually kind of picky about my mascara brands. I do not like to spend a lot on mascara, however. So my go to has always just been from Walgreens or CVS.
My go to mascara is just a simple Maybelline classic.
I have used the classic Maybelline mascaras for years, always checking out the new one they release. I have loved some and hated others. However, this is the one I always go back to. Since they released this I haven’t found much else that I really like. It isn’t clumpy and is not wet – two key factors to a good mascara in my opinion.
And then sometimes I layer it with another more expensive mascara for extra:
I actually received this as a sample from either Birchbox or Ipsy and I actually really loved it. It doesn’t give a ton of volume on it’s own – but its great at separating the lashes. Most days I use this as a base to separate my lashes and make sure they aren’t stuck together, and then I follow with something else.
Also a huge thing now is Fiber lashes.
Basically, 3D Fiber Lashes are a 2-3 step process. You put on the transplanting gel on first, then use the fiber wand to build up the fibers on your natural lashes. You then seal it in with another gel layer. I love these for a more dramatic look, however for every day they are a little heavy. They tend to get clumpy and there is a much higher chance of catastrophic eye poking and fiber flyaway’s. Younique has a set which is what I’ve used and like a lot. Although, I do know that now many drugstores now have a ton of options as well as big beauty brands like Tarte and L’Oreal.
Additionally, a more expensive option are Eyelash Extensions which are becoming more and more frequent as beauty products become more permanent. With the influx of tattooed makeup such as eyeliner and eyebrow microblading – there is no surprise that extensions are also super popular. With my blonde hair, I have light eyebrows and eyelashes. Therefore, I have found an easy way to highlight my eyelashes without going too dark. I may never get into microblading as even still I cannot find a brow product that does not darken my eyebrows to the point of becoming a Helga. Eyebrows can just stay average and not on fleek because I just don’t have time for that. In the future, I may look to go the extension route to save myself time and maybe some hassle. For now though, I think a couple good layers of a drugstore mascara can still do the trick.
Thanks. I was wondering about the 3D mascara. I barely use it and I’d love to have beautiful lashes. My eyes are constantly bothering me.. Thanks.. ❤❤❤
